TAKE ACTION: Ask your coal questions to Georgia's Environmental Protection Division (EPD) on March 5th

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

Georgia's EPD is considering permits to build a new coal plant. Plant Washington, a 850 megawatt coal-fired power plant proposed for middle Georgia, will send dirty power to Atlanta. Speak up before it is too late.

Background

Can we afford to allow 6.2 million tons of carbon dioxide, 122 pounds of toxic mercury, and 1,896 tons of sulfur dioxide into our air and water? Will we be able to create and maintain a thriving economy while withdrawing 16 million gallons of water from the Oconee River each day? Do we know what this coal plant will do to our wetlands? Are we confident this is the best choice to meet our energy needs?

The answer to all these questions is no.
What are your questions? Ask them at the upcoming EPD forum and help ensure a clean environment for now and for future generations.

The address for the forum is:
