Your Representative Said No to Water Conservation: Hold Them Accountable

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

On March 12, House members passed House Bill 158, a bill that promotes water conservation in Georgia. However, 53 Representatives voted NO on this bill.

Background

Georgia faces unprecedented challenges to its clean water supply. Increased frequency and duration of drought, wastefulness, and growing demands are putting new strains on communities and our limited water resources.

Georgia must implement the fastest, least expensive measures to protect our water resources. By using less water and being more efficient in what we do use, we can ensure we have enough affordable clean water for our families, neighbors and businesses.

Last Thursday, March 12th, House members vote 109 - 53 to pass one such solution to secure our water supply: House Bill 158. This bill, sponsored by Representatives Judy Manning and John Meadows requires new multi-family residential buildings to install meters on each unit to more accurately measure and charge for water consumption.

Send a message to your Representative to let them know that you are disappointed that they opposed a bill that promotes water conservation in Georgia by voting no vote last week on HB 158.

RE: Your NO Vote on HB 158

Dear Representative,

I am disappointed that you voted NO on House Bill 158. This bill requires new multi-family residential buildings to install meters on each unit to more accurately measure and charge for water consumption. It helps move Georgia towards ensuring enough affordable clean water for our families, neighbors, and businesses now and in the future. I hope that next time you will vote in favor of water conservation solutions.

Sincerely,

Your name and address here
