On Wednesday, the Georgia House of Representatives voted against the passage of Senate Bill 164, legislation that would expand the ability of billboard companies to cut down trees along Georgia highways.

There was much pressure from the billboard industry to pass the bill, and the vote was close, at 74-89. Send a message to your Representative to tell them that you are disappointed that they voted in support of this bill that threatens health, safety, and scenic beauty along Georgia highways. It is especially important that Representatives who voted in support of this bill are held accountable for their actions, because after the House vote to pass the bill failed, the House passed a vote to reconsider their actions on the bill. This allows for the possibility that SB 164 could come up for another vote today and be passed on the last day of the 2009 legislative session.
