Wildlife Specialty License Plates – Funds to Wildlife Resources Division – Support HB 730

Background

Georgia’s Non-Game Wildlife and trout programs are special. And, Georgia’s Bobwhite Quail Initiative served as a model for a national effort at restoring habitats in agricultural landscapes. All of these programs have a history of funding support through the sales of wildlife license plates. All of these programs suffered when revenues from sales of wildlife license plates were diverted away from the intended programs and into the general fund. 2014 is the year to correct this diversion.

Wildlife license plates were the first of the state government program plates and different from other specialty license plates in the amount of the overall program support that they provide. HB 730 proposes to sell wildlife plates at a more reasonable fee and put those revenues where they were intended.

Dear Representative,

Georgia’s Non-Game Wildlife and trout programs are special. And, Georgia’s Bobwhite Quail Initiative served as a model for a national effort at restoring habitats for wildlife dependent upon early successional habitat conditions.

HB 730 needs to be heard and favorably reported by the House Motor Vehicles Committee. It then needs to be passed by the House. Vote “Yes” on HB 730.
